A man has been left in hysterics over his pet sitter's note explaining why his dog didn't finished her dinner. He found the note so amusing that he decided to share it on Reddit, captioning it: "After a night out, we came home to find this note from the dog sitter."

The note read: "Thanks for inviting me to hang with your adorable doggos!" Ella only ate half her food. I tried giving it to her several times but after my final attempt, she farted on me and ran away, so I guess she wasn't hungry."

While most social media users praised the dog sitter for her sense of humour, others chipped in with their own jokes. One user said: "The dog sitter knows how to have a laugh. Poor dog probably missed her owners." Another joked: "In my culture, farting on someone is how we show love and I think that's beautiful." A third wondered: "I wonder if she will accept another job from them? Or if it's one fart and you're out?"

It comes after a dog owner spent £140 at the vet just to find out her dramatic dog was holding in farts. Owner Kelly Lanier took her Maltipoo Bentley to the vet after he started missing meals - something which he has never done before.

Kelly, from Atlanta, America, told The Mirror: "I was going about my day, and I noticed he had been pretty lethargic and not eating much for a few days. "He has eaten things he wasn't supposed to in the past, so I worried he had gotten into something.

"I took him to the vet and asked them to do some imaging to see if there was a blockage or a foreign object or something. Then they brought him back out and said 'Well there is a blockage but it's a gas bubble, so it seems he's just holding in a fart'."

Unable to stop her laughter, Kelly was relieved there was nothing seriously wrong with her dramatic dog. She added: "We all got a good laugh out of it and luckily he was feeling better within a day or two. "I didn't hear him fart whenever it did happen so he must have done it while I was asleep or something."

Bentley, who also responds to Bean, has been a 'little character' since he was just 10 weeks old. He has been described as a "very silly and mischievous" dog who has a "flair for drama". "This was all very on-brand for him," added Kelly. "He sleeps right next to me and sometimes he farts in the night and it smells so bad I wake up from REM sleep. He's all about using farts for tactical purposes."
